After confronting an extremely awkward situation in Bihar in view of the disbanding of the Mahagathbandhan after Nitish Kumar’s severing ties with JD(U), the Congress seems to be in jeopardy in Gujarat as well, with three of its MLAs resigning n joining BJP n 15 others likely to follow suit in the near future. The Congress heavy weight n one time BJP leader of Gujarat, Shankar Singh Waghela’s recent leaving of Congress in a huff has also made Congress too weak in the state earlier ruled by the current prime minister, thrice. The weakening of the Congress in Gujarat in view of the three MLAs joining BJP n Waghela’s simultaneously getting rid of this 135 year old Congress has also confirmed the possible defeat of the 5 time Rajya Sabha MP n political secretary of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Ahmed Patel. If reliable sources are to be believed, one of the defected MLA Balwant Singh is being made the official BJP candidate for the second Rajya Sabha seat from Gujarat by the BJP in order to dissuade the victory of Congress candidate Ahmed Patel. It is reliably learnt that Mr. Shanker Singh Waghela is clandestinely engineering the defections of another 15 Congress law makers to BJP who have finally made up their mind to cross sides n support Balwant Singh as BJPs’ Rajya Sabha MP.

If this really happens it’s for sure that Sonia Gandhi’s political secretary n five time MP of the upper house, Ahmed Patel is likely to loose. It seems that the increasing proclivity of Congress lawmakers towards the BJP is Gujarat is another master stroke of Modi to ensure that former becomes completely effectless in his home state. This fact has been substantiated in the recently held election of the President of India when Gujarat witnessed cross voting of 11 law makers that finally lead to Kovind’s victory despite the latter already having an upper hand. Gujarat is due for a political upheaval in the near future n after Bihar, it seems that BJP is planning to engineer defection in states where Congress is in power n is not hesitating to reward the defectors with ministership or other plum political positions. The instances of Uttarakhand n Uttar Pradesh unambiguously confirm this fact, as majority of the Congress defectors have been made ministers in Uttarakhand n similarly the defectors of Bahujan Samaj Party n Congress were included in Adityanath’s cabinet in UP with plum ministeries.
