SALUTES TO VERNIKA KUNDU, A SYMBOL OF BRAVERY N COURAGE…!

The shameful n tragic incidents of eve teasing, stalking n gang rapes have become the order of the day despite governmental agencies n social organisations like police n NGOs doing their best to counter them as claimed by them from time to time. The media , the hon’ble judiciary n various law enforcing agencies have also been contributing impressively to ensure that the criminals n rapists are brought to the legal book n punished stringently.
But despite the introduction of more stricter laws n subsequent spread in awareness nationally the crime against women n girls is hardly under control or lessening n shameful incidents of women trafficking, stalking, eve teasing n rapes including dowry deaths seem to be rapidly assuming an upward trend with those with political clout n influence having their fullest say in our still servile mentality oriented society. The recent much publiscised shameful incident of stalking n an unsuccesful attempt by a politician’s son in Haryana n the subsequent cover up attempts at the initial stages of the mishappening till it gained a tremendous media coverage n finally the accuse Barala n his friend arrested under the severe sections of the law speaks of the fact that had the print n electronics media of the country not highlighted the case things would have by now adopted the shape of a highly lower profile case n would have been settled under duress n pressure. But the brave n courageous disc jockey n daughter of a senior bureaucrat in Haryana government Vernika Kundu deserves to be complimented fully for exhibiting tremendous fearlessness n boldness n after confronting every pressure of these goons brought it not only to the notice of the police authorities but also posted the entire episode in facebook that went viral finally inviting the media attention.
There have been hundreds of such incidents happening in Delhi, NCR, Uttar Pradesh n several other states of the country but hardly do the victims raise their voice of dissent due to social stigma, duress n pressure n bcause of the terror of the criminals. But the way Vernika Kundu expressed her dissent n courageous actions by pledging to counter these highly influential goons is not only highly laudable but also gives a ray of hope for the depressed n oppressed women community of the country to raise alarm against their stalkers, eve teasers n criminal elements however strong or influential they are (but) it also sends a message for the police n other governmental agencies across that they need to be alert, impartial n judicious in such sensitive matters to put even the influential or the criminals with clout behind bars under the strictest sections of the law lest they won’t be spared as well. The media in particular n the sensitive facebook users also deserve to be complimented for standing with Vernika kundu during her critical juncture n making her post viral globally, ultimately psychologically pressurising the entire media, police authorities n the political system at the helm to become more pro active who were earlier under huge reluctance, apprehesive n hitch to grab the culprits under the strictest sections of the law. This media blitz reminds me of the higly propagated Nirbhaya episode of the most horrendous kind n Jessica lal murder case as well, which saw the ray of real hope after the actual media trial took place , with the perpetrators going to jail with stringent n rigorous life imprisonment n capital punishment respecively.
